External parasites can cause direct damage to cattle by their annoyance, irritation, blood feeding, modification of host behaviour, and invasion of tissues.1
Potential consequences include, among others:
- skin irritation
- hair loss
- blood loss
- reduction in weight gain performance
- devaluation of carcass and hide
- injury during pest avoidance
Insect pests may also cause indirect damage to livestock by transmitting pathogens mechanically or biologically1, contributing to increased treatment costs and production losses. Additionally, some external parasites can cause cattle to damage facilities due to excessive rubbing/scratching.
Insect control is a wise investment that may pay dividends in the form of increased animal well-being and greater productivity. Browse our options for external parasite control in cattle.
Always read and follow product label instructions to ensure the selected product is suitable for the animal to be treated.
